In addition, at the customer’s request, a car with laboratory assistants can come to a patient’s home: SunLab provides a service of taking the biological materials domiciliary. Under the agreement with the local authorities, the Laboratory can come to the settlements within Kharkiv region, too.

SUNLAB: Most Often Taken Analyses

Thanks to its own base and ultra-precise automatic analyzers, the laboratory performs studies in all fields of diagnostics. In this case, these are the top-requested types of analyses:

• clinical blood test gives a full understanding of the condition of the hematopoietic system, indicates the presence of an inflammatory process in the body;
• blood biochemistry allows you to estimate the work of internal organs and metabolic rate;
• analysis for thyroid hormones gives an idea of the thyroid gland functioning, allows identifying states of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

For each of these studies, the patient must have a blood test taken, strictly on an empty stomach.

Prices of Analyses

The price of laboratory tests depends on their complexity and type. The prices of the reagents and consumables used turn out the decisive factor that may influence the price of a test. It is the increase in the cost of the latter that entails an increase in the prices of analyses.

SunLab cares about its customers and strives to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take tests at a most reasonable price. Laboratory specialists give their recommendations and help the patients to choose the necessary set of studies or individual test and thus to save money. The Laboratory may also offer a special discount: 10% discount for all tests for pensioners, veterans of all groups, ATO participants and Chernobyl survivors.

Rules of Materials Sampling in the Laboratory

The reliability of laboratory tests is largely determined by the quality of patient preparation. So, biomaterial sampling for all blood tests is carried out only on an empty stomach. Before the procedure, the patient should not eat for at least 6-8 hours, drinking water is allowed. In addition, on the eve of the test, it is necessary to avoid junk food, alcohol, and intense physical exertion. If it is possible, the one should refuse taking any medications.

Urine, saliva and other biological materials that a patient samples on his own should be placed in sterile and airtight containers and delivered to the laboratory assistants as soon as possible. The container with feces can be stored in the refrigerator for up 36 hours.

On the eve of taking swabs from the vagina and urethra, patients are recommended to refrain from sexual intercourse for at least 48 hours. A nasal and throat swabs are taken exclusively on an empty stomach. On the eve of this examination, it is also prohibited to brush teeth and rinse mouth or throat with antiseptic solutions. Taking antibiotics should be suspended at least 2 weeks before the test.

General Clinical Investigations
close

General clinical investigations are performed to study the physicochemical properties of biomaterials. The results are used to diagnose and control the treatment of various pathological processes. Most often, blood is tested, but data on the composition of urine, feces, sputum, swabbing and ejaculants are also required.

Thus, the clinical analysis of sputum for mycobacteria is necessary to diagnose and control the treatment of tuberculosis. A blood test for hemostasis or a coagulogram is mandatory for a patient to assess the nature and speed of blood coagulation prior to the surgical interventions.
Experts usually insist that almost all the patients should undergo a soonest possible general clinical blood test (always on an empty stomach). This investigation is one of the most informative. It allows to estimate the condition of the hematopoietic system, diagnose anaemic states and the presence of an inflammatory process in the body.

The test results show the hemoglobin level, characterize the qualitative and quantitative composition of the biological fluid (the number of erythrocytes, leucocytes, thrombocytes) and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate). A general blood test can be taken in Kharkiv, both at state and private laboratories but private structures are leaders regarding the time-span and quality of diagnostics.

Bacteriological Investigations
close

In the course of bacteriological studies, the sowing of biological material (blood, fecal masses, urine, pleural fluid) is done on substrates. Culturing allows to identify pathogens and their concentration and is used to diagnose various infectious diseases and manage their treatment.

Bacterial inoculation for flora with an antibiogram is prescribed for the diagnosis of the inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system and the choice of the most effient antibacterial medicine. Blood cultures for sterility (with antibiotigram) will help to identify bacteria in human blood and testify the presence of an infectious process. The analysis is to be prescribed as the mandatory procedure in cases of suspected bacteremia, as well as in cases of immunodeficiency states.

Neither diagnostics nor the further and treatment of gonorrhea can be possible without the results of the culturing to be done with the purpose to identify the gonococcus with an antibiogram. The investigation is carried out in the presence of clinical evidence of an infectious process, to confirm the tests performed by means of microscopy. This method also gives a general picture of microflora composition of women urogenital system in studying of u/g swabs.

To identify staphylococcus and determine its sensitivity to antibiotics and bacteriophages, nasal and throat swabs must be taken. In this case culturing is mandatory. Bacteriological investigations are also used to determine the gut flora. One of the most common tests of this type is fecal bacterial inoculation for dysbiosis.

Allergy and Immunology Investigations
close

Allergy Testing

An allergy blood test allows to study the degree of the immune overreaction to a specific substance influence. To do so, a specific group of allergens (contact, ingested, inhaled) is added to the biomaterial and the intensity of the production of a specific immunoglobulin E is investigated. If an allergic rhinitis is suspected, a nasocytogram is performed along with allergotests: the latter examine the nasopharynx discharge. It is recommended that allergy blood test should be taken on an empty stomach, in the period of remission, when the number of antibodies is close to normal. A week before the procedure, all foods with increased allergenicity should be excluded from the diet. At the time of preparation, you should also refuse to accept medicines.

Immunology Testing

Allergic diseases arise as a result of undesirable activity of the human immune system. In this regard, one of the important methods of diagnosing the allergies is an immunological blood test to reveal the possible sensitivity to allergens. Such analysis allows to assess the state of the immune system, as well as to study the type and nature of its disfunction. The latter also plays an important part in the diagnosis of rheumatic diseases and other autoimmune diseases, including psoriasis, lupus, thyroiditis.

Oncology panel
close

Female oncology panel is a set of studies for cancer-specific markers. Tutor markers are substances of a protein nature that are secreted by cancer afflicted cells. If the analysis shows a multiple increase in the concentration of these substances in the blood, doctors diagnose the oncological process. Analyses for oncology suggest the presence of neoplasms at the earliest stages of their growth.

The female panel includes a number of indices indicating the presence of neoplasms in various organs, including the organs of the genitourinary and respiratory systems, and the gastrointestinal tract. Special studies can diagnose breast and thyroid cancer, assess the risk of ovarian cancer under the ROMA index. The study is mandatory in case of tumor availability in the true pelvis, and is recommended for all women during menopause.

As for the male oncological panel, it traditionally includes markers of prostate carcinoma (PSA), as well as HCG and AFP – markers of the pathological process in the testes. The tumor marker CA 125 also indicates the possibility of neoplasm in the testicles. The same analysis is prescribed for women in case of suspected ovarian pathologies.

Venous blood sampling is performed in the morning, on an empty stomach. 3-4 days before the examination, the patient should keep from eating unhealthy and junk food, alcoholic beverages, and avoid physical overload as well.

Micrography. Histological investigations. Cytological Screening
close

Microscopy is the study of various biomaterials (skin, muscles, and mucous membranes) with the help of a microscope. The most informative types of microscopy are histological investigations and cytopathology.

Histological investigations

Analysis of tissues for histology is the most important method for diagnosing neoplasms and determining the stage of oncology disease. This method allows to achieve high accuracy in estimation of the the structure and the patient’s cells codition, choose the most efficient treatment tactics and make a prognosis for the disease. The examination also helps to detect neoplasms at the early stages in order to take the timely necessary measures.

Cytological Screening

Studying the cellular composition of biomaterials with the help of ultra-precise microscopes is known as cytology or analysis for atypical cells. It allows to identify the precancerous proliferation, determine the histological form of the tumor, its prevalence, metastases, as well as diagnose dysplasia and some immunodeficiency states.

This method is most widely used in gynecology, where tissue samples of organs and mucous membranes are examined. However, it is in demand in other areas of medicine: gastroenterology, proctology, urology, dermatology. For example, prostate secretion microscopy is used to determine prostate pathologies, and swab for fungi is used to diagnose skin diseases.

Hormone panel
close

The hormone panel includes a group of special tests of serum or plasma from dark blood. Hormones are biologically active substances that are produced by the ductless glands: the sexual, thyroid, parathyroid and pancreas, as well as the adrenal glands and the pituitary gland.

The analysis is performed using the immunoenzyme technique, which allows to identify various diseases at the early stages of their development. Thus, hormonal studies of the thyroid gland give a complete picture of the quality of its functioning and allow to diagnose such complex diseases as hypothyroidism, toxic goiter and other autoimmune pathologies. For instance, the diagnostics of autoimmune thyroiditis is possible only due to hormonal tests.

Pancreatic hormones (primarily insulin and glucagon) are the most important markers in the diagnostics of diabetes. Improper functioning of the pancreas results in the disorder of carbohydrate metabolism. A special laboratory study of glucose and insulin levels with the determination of insulin resistance or the NOMA index helps to assess the nature of carbohydrate metabolism.

Parathyroid hormone of the parathyroid gland is responsible for bone metabolism. A disease such as osteoporosis develops In the conditions of substance lack. While its excessive generation leads to elementary hyperparathyroidism, alongside with bone fragility and hypercalcemia.

Infectious Panel
close

An infectious panel is a set of studies that allows you to identify the most common infectious diseases (for example, EBV and other herpes virus infections). They are identified primarily by the method of polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

PCR allows to detect cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex viruses, human papillomaviruses, Epstein-Barr virus, as well as identify the causative agents of many urogenital infections. The most important advantage of this method is the opportunity to diagnose the early stages of the development of the disease. For instance, RNA of rubella virus may be detected in blood serum in the first days after contamination. Hepatitises of all groups are diagnosed using PCR as well.

Urogenital Infections

A group of diseases of the genitourinary system, transmitted mainly through sexual contact (STI), is called urogenital infections. Among the most common diseases of the kind are candidiasis, gonorrhea, genital herpes, chlamidiosis, mycoplasmosis. Their pathogens can be both viruses and fungi, bacteria. For instance, chlamidiosis is caused by bacteria – chlamydia trachomatis.

At suspicion on STI, in addition to a blood test, the patient is recommended to do urogenital screening of microflora. The epithelial cells of the urogenital tract are examined in this case.

Reproductive System Investigation
close

Reproductive andrology – a young branch of medicine is called upon to cope with delicate male problems. Andrologists specialize in the treatment of diseases of the male reproductive system: infertility, hydrocele, inflammation of the seminal vesicle, tumors, etc.

Special testing on hormones, primarily on total testosterone, play the leading role in the diagnosis of male diseases. This hormone ensures spermatogenesis and maintains the level of male libido. Due to the reduction of hormone’s quantity, men have hormonal infertility, as observed.

For diagnosing and diagnosis specification, doctors also need information about the level of prolactin. Its increase can cause erectile dysfunction and retrograde ejaculation. In the case of suspected tumors at adrenal glands and testicular, one should take an analysis for progesterone level. A patient with symptoms of gynecomastia is advised to take an estradiol test.

Prenatal Diagnostics

A set of special studies at the stage of intrauterine growth is called prenatal diagnosis. Thanks to these studies, specialists can monitor the development of the fetus, and identify its sex on screening even in the first trimester of pregnancy.

In addition to U/S, biochemical tests for free estriol, AFP, HCG, inhibin A are necessary at the stage of prenatal diagnosis. A decrease or increase in the level of these hormones in the blood, along with the data obtained during screenings, allow to accurately diagnose the risks of fetal growth, including Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome, Patau’s syndrome, anencephaly, etc.

Multi-Method Investigations
close

In order to clarify the diagnosis, doctors prescribe complex tests. For example, for the initial assessment of the patient’s state, as well as on the eve of surgical interventions, they use a blood coagulation test or a coagulogram. Hematological tests for TSH will provide the necessary information about the condition of the thyroid gland and the synthesis of thyroid hormones.

For the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, an analysis for Anti-Mullerian hormone is necessary. Obtained data show the level of testosterone with the male patient and the volume of ovarian reserve with the female patient. When planning pregnancy, it is also recommended to undergo a study on TORCH infections that can harm the fetus.

In the case of suspected helminth infection, a “parasitic complex” is prescribed. Its results indicate the presence of antibodies to opisthorchidae, toxocara, trichinella, ascarid.

If rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases are suspected, it is necessary to consider the rheumatoid factor. The examination includes rheumatic tests, determination of the level of C-reactive protein, antihyaluronidase, anti-streptolysin O, and some others.
Finally, a comprehensive analysis of mineral metabolism will help to understand what elements the organism lacks.
